FG to Inject N600bn Stimulus Package into Agric Sector
The Federal Government has disclosed it would inject a N600 billion stimulus package into the agriculture sector, to strengthen the resolve of smallholders amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sabo Nanono, revealed this while on a tour of Dangote Fertilizer Plant and other fertilizer companies in Lagos State to galvanise cooperation for fertilizer production and supply.

Approved N13 billion Fund Not Only for Pest Control – Nanono
The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has said that the N13 billion intervention fund for pest control approved by the Federal Government does not only cover pest control spraying.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Muhammed Sabo Nanono, in an interview over the weekend, explained that the fund also covers the fight against transboundary diseases such as the foot and mouth diseases that affect cattle, sheep, donkeys and goats.

Dangote Fertiliser Will Help Boost Nigeria’s Food Production- Nanono
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Muhammad Sabo Nanono, has said that fertiliser production by Dangote Fertiliser Limited would play an important role in strengthening Nigeria’s food security.
Nanono stated this over the weekend during a tour of the Dangote Group’s fertiliser plant in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
The minister explained that Aliko Dangote’s investment in the fertiliser industry would help to improve farm yields and agricultural productivity.

Nigerian Cattle Breeders Call for Separate Livestock Ministry
The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has urged the Federal Government to create a separate livestock ministry to replace the current “mere department” that serves the sub-sector.
The association said an independent ministry would help to “squally address” issues in the industry.
The livestock industry is currently serviced under the Animal Husbandry and the Veterinary and Pest Control Services departments of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
