It is indeed an exciting time for the agriculture sector in Nigeria. The sector is steadily liberating itself from the clutches of trivialization and regressive structure. With the trails of progressiveness in sight, we must laud the Honourable Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji Sabo Nanono for having his blueprint well initiated in ensuring that the sector becomes the lifeblood of the Nigerian economy.

With the agro-industrialization banner being flagged across the country, the sub-nationals (Nigerian states) are steamrolling their comparative advantages in agriculture, in the model of the Special Agro-industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) initiative propagated by the African Development Bank (AfDB).
Setting the standard, one of the states in Nigeria who have yielded to this call of duty is Cross River state. Our cover story for this month, titled Sub-National Agro-Industrialisation: The Cross River Example, specifically highlights the strides of the state, who through its Governor, Ben Ayade, is currently heralding the charge to grandly commercialize the agricultural industry.
As always, you’ll find this piece very revealing, introspecting and eye-catching, as our well-rounded stance climaxes the current agro-industrial realities of the sub-nationals, most notably, Cross River State.
In the same vein, we also reached out to the Chairman of AA Universal Agro Industries Ltd, Chief Christopher Agara, who in an exclusive interview with AgroNigeria discussed his firm’s role in the agro-industrialization mix.
No doubt also, that the youths are sacrosanct to the agro-industrial drive of the country, but many challenges still stifle their efforts as they struggle to make headway in the sector. Our AgroFeature page sheds light on the travails of youths in the agriculture sector, who are seen as a pivotal part of the jigsaw.
In furtherance of our mandate to see to the success of agribusinesses, our AgroPractice section informs you of the conditions responsible for egg drop in a poultry farm. Also embedded in this edition is the AgroMedical page which provides vital information on combating fever with essential nutrition.
As is our forte, my team and I have committed an enormous amount of energy towards ensuring that you get the best out of this month’s magazine. For us, we are unrelenting in this task, and it is our goal that Nigeria’s agriculture sector becomes a world-beater!
