The Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) has asked the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to identify the 166 projects it said were beneficial to poultry farmers and ‘ongoing’ nationwide.
PAN National President, Ezekiel Ibrahim, made the request on Monday in Abuja during a briefing to examine the current state of the poultry industry.
Ibrahim, who noted that the CBN in one of its recent statements had stated that 166 projects were ongoing, added the association would like to get their locations so as to benefit from them.
“The association will be interested to know the identity of these projects and the location across the country so that we can see how the association can work with these projects that have correlation and benefit to the poultry industry in Nigeria,” he said.
While appreciating the CBN for the Anchor Borrowers’ Programme, Ibrahim also urged the financial institution to ensure that stakeholders are carried along when drawing its intervention programmes.
“This will ensure that collectively we shall have a convergence of action plans to achieve meaningful development since we have common goals and objectives,” he added.
Also, the PAN leader restated the need for the Federal Government to develop a strong data collection method to build a reliable and transparent database.
He also called for an increase in the funding of ministries of agriculture at the federal, state and local government levels.
