The Cross River state’s Chicken Processing Factory in Calabar will produce over 24,000 frozen chickens daily when it commences full operations.

This was the statement made by the Governor of the state, Ben Ayade, during the 2019 Africa Industrialization Day (AID) held in Calabar and organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.

In Ayade’s remarks, “Today, Cross River State has factories that will be producing 24,000 frozen chicken per day. As such, we need a huge quantity of maize and soya beans for feed production and we need suppliers. More than this, we shall also cultivate large maize and soya beans farms.”

According to him, massive agro-revolution had been launched in the state through the establishment of an array of agro-based factories, stating that the state desires to grow an agricultural value chain that will create more employment.

He said, “We will cultivate new farmlands to support the cultivation of maize and soya beans and in the process create jobs and link people to farms and the industries.

“We have the Cross River State noodles factory, which depends mostly on rice because the use of wheat has been found to have a high level of gluten. Today in Cross River State, we also have a feed mill.”

Governor Ayade further added that Cross River is taking its agro industrialization efforts to the skies, in a bid to revolutionize the economy and create a viable business environment for investors.

“Agro-industrial revolution is now the first step to take. It is indeed, the only agro-industrial revolution that allows you to industrialize, revolutionize your economy, and yet carry the people along because the essence of industrialization is to create social harmony.” He stated.
