Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s policies and investment in the rice value chain within the last few years have started bearing fruits on Nigeria’s economy.

Bagudu made this observation on Saturday when he visited a private rice mill, the Lolo Rice Mill in Kamba, Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The mill, owned by Alhaji Sahabi Lolo, has the capacity to produce 160 tonnes of paddy per day.

Bagudu was accompanied on the visit by his Jigawa State counterpart, Muhammed Badaru Abubakar.

The Kebbi Governor observed that Buhari’s policies and style of leadership have begun bearing the desired fruits in the country.

He said, “What you saw here today is one of the so many that have come up in the last few years under President Muhammadu Buhari’s robust administration.

“President Muhammadu Buhari coined the adage ‘Let us eat what we grow, and grow what we eat,’ and now we are seeing Nigerians processing what we produce.”

Bagudu also pointed out that despite flooding incidence that has ravaged many areas and farms, prices of food items were nosediving.

This, he said, was a sign that more people were hugely investing in the agricultural sector.

“Private money from the small-scale farmer, the small-scale fisherman and even animal husbandry, people are putting more money into agriculture.”

The Kebbi Governor also commended Lolo, an indigenous investor, for believing in the policies put in place by Buhari by boldly putting up the rice mill to boost the favourable economic landscape in the state.

On his part, Governor Abubakar Badaru said he visited the mill to encourage private investment as one of the policy thrusts of President Buhari.

Badaru also commended Bagudu for supporting the investors to thrive in the state.
