The Kebbi State Government has restated its commitment towards strengthening the state’s agriculture sector.
Governor Atiku Bagudu gave the assurance on Thursday while speaking to rice farmers in Zauro Fadama area of Birnin Kebbi.
Bagudu noted that his administration was mapping out strategies to strengthen the sector. This, he said, was critical to increasing farm yields and protecting the state’s food security.
The governor also restated his administration’s resolve to sustain the provision of inputs to farmers in the state in order to broaden her agricultural mechanization.
“This will also encourage them to cultivate more hectares and keep abreast with modern farming techniques,” he added.
Bagudu also expressed delight at the level of large-scale farming activities being embarked upon by farmers in the Zauro Fadama area.
The former senator pledged his support to provide farmers in the state with needed moral and material support.
He also urged farmers to double their efforts by cultivating both food and cash crops, especially rice.
Bagudu noted that this would help the state in retaining its premium rating as a leader in agricultural production in Nigeria.
